Private Frank Richards born, 1883

An orphan and a miner, he enlisted in the Royal Welch in 1901 and joined 2 RWF in India where he remained until discharged in 1909.

As a Reservist he was recalled in August 1914 and rejoined the 2 RWF just before it left for France.

He served throughout the war with the battalion as a Private, winning a DCM and MM for gallantry

His memoirs, Old Soldier Sahib and Old Soldiers Never Die, are seldom out of print. He died in 1961.
